AUTUMN IS MY FAVORITE COLOR.

There comes a particular morning every year when you step outside with the dog and realize that something has happened overnight.

The air feels different.

There is a little bite to it that wasn't there yesterday, one maple has apparently decided to turn blazing red without consulting anybody, and somewhere beneath your feet waits the first perfectly crunchy leaf of the season.

CRUNCH.

There it is.

Autumn has arrived.

And suddenly, after months of looking at a world dressed almost entirely in green, Mother Nature appears to have discovered the saturation button and is leaning on it with both elbows.

That is exactly the feeling we wanted for our September Special Edition, which may be the most colorful Dire Wolf Project™ design we have created yet.

The artwork features an American Dirus™ dog perched high above a mountain valley at sunset, surrounded by the ridiculous extravagance of autumn at its peak. There are scarlet leaves, glowing orange trees, deep evergreen forests, distant blue mountains, golden sunlight spilling across the valley, and one magnificent wolfy dog sitting in the middle of the whole spectacle as though he personally arranged it.

Across the top are the words:

AUTUMN IS MY FAVORITE COLOR.

Which makes perfect sense, because asking an autumn person to choose between red, orange, gold, amber, copper, russet, and whatever spectacular color happens when late-afternoon sunlight hits a maple tree is simply unreasonable.

We would like all of them, please.

Preferably with a giant dog.

This is an actual season, despite what meteorologists may claim, and it begins on the first morning when you open the door, feel that wonderful cold air hit your face, and immediately go back inside for another layer.

For those days, the design is available on our sweatshirts, pullover hoodies, and zip-up hoodies, which also happen to solve October's peculiar habit of requiring approximately four different wardrobes between breakfast and dinner.

Our shirts are made from a comfortable cotton/polyester blend and are available in Small, Medium, Large, XL, XXL, and XXXL, with several garment colors to choose from.

Then all that remains is deciding where your new autumn uniform is going first.

Perhaps it will make its debut at the pumpkin patch, on a mountain trail, around the campfire, at the farmer's market, during a weekend drive through the changing leaves, or simply on the morning dog walk when you realize that your American Dirus™ dog has been waiting approximately nine months for his coat to finally coordinate with the scenery again.

There is, however, one small problem with autumn.

It has absolutely no respect for those of us who would like it to stay until approximately March.

You wait all year for the leaves to turn, and then the entire landscape erupts into color for a few glorious weeks before a good stiff wind comes along and steals half of it overnight.

Perhaps that is why we love it so much.

Autumn never really settles in. It arrives spectacularly, sets the mountains on fire, throws gold across the forests, gives us a few magnificent weeks to enjoy the show, and then wanders off again.

So our September design is a little celebration of that fleeting season and of everyone who understands that autumn was never merely orange.

Autumn is an entire color.

And this year, you can wear it.
